HaBasta Restaurant

Tel Aviv for Foodies

HaBasta Restaurant is a hidden gem within the Carmel Food Market. But once you found your way; you have this seemingly simple place serving heavenly food – fresh from the sea or from the market itself – the menu (scribbled on a piece of torn paper…). Now don’t expect waiters bowing when you enter because Habasata Restaurant is not that kind of a place. I went there a couple of times when I was touring with guests around Nahalat Binyamin and the Market, and the service was always attentive and quick. Furthermore, the menu is quite diverse.

HaBasta Restaurant: Has a Divine Menu

The food is super fresh and delicious. It’s a perfect example of market-to-plate cuisine as it is literally inside the Carmel market. While I was eating, one of the staff arrived with a box full of oysters. My guests started to open them and gulp them down with a glass of excellent wine. There are loads of sharing dishes, including standouts of the leaf with blue cheese; calamari; cauliflower, filled zucchini, and some fish dishes. The food was all good- typical Tel Aviv prices, so not cheap, but very enjoyable. Even the desserts are super good, but if you feel like trying other desserts, just next to Habasta Restaurant at the Market. So Combine all that with a lively atmosphere and excellent service, and the result is a delightful and typical Tel Aviv dinner experience.

By the way, the handwritten menus change twice every day. The quality of food and produce is superb. I have no idea why this place has a 3.5 rating; the staff is excellent; the food is fantastic, with great plates and perfect to share. HaBasta Restaurant is highly, highly recommended.
