xCaesarea National Park Day Tour includes a visit to the amphitheater and the historic port. In addition, we’ll have a closer look at the remains of a hippodrome. And of course, the ruins of the seafront Promontory Palace built by Herod, which includes the remains of a mosaic floor and more!
Our day will begin with a 15-minute introduction to the site at the local visitor center.
An Intro to Caesarea
We'll examine the theatre. Although much is restored still, we can see some of the original Herodian theatre. We will talk about an amazing archaeological find during the excavations.
Original Sections of the Roman Theatre
We will check out Herod's summer palace that he built just next to the Med Sea including the freshwater infinity pool that he installed on sea level.
The Western Wing of the Palace
After seeing the palace we'll see where Herod held the chariot races and gladiator fights. Including a visit to an original Roman bath found in Caesarea.
Now, we'll tour the impressive Roman Port that Herod Built, which was innovative then. We will check out the new Visitors Center as part of our tour.
The Roman Port
We'll have our lunch at the port in one of the fine restaurants Caesarea National Park houses just next to the Med Sea.
After a nice meal, we would continue and talk about Caesarea during the Crusader period. examining some vestiges from the period.
The Crusader Gate and Fortification
Last would be the water aqueduct of Caesarea. We can also dip in the Med Sea for a while and eventually return home.
