American Colony Hotel

Luxury Hotels in Jerusalem

The American Colony Hotel is classy, elegant, and oh-so chic. Occupying a magnificent Ottoman-era former palace built for a pasha and his four wives, the stately hotel has been providing discerning guests with a luxurious retreat for over 100 years.

In Addition, the American Colony Hotel in Jerusalem features elegantly appointed guest rooms and suites across four buildings: the Main House, the East House, the Palm House, and the Cow Byre. Each of the buildings has its character.

Moreover, the Main House includes the original American Colony building and the New Wing. Guest rooms in the New Wing are themed by floor, each with a different character and style like the Allenby floor, the Swedish floor, and the TE Lawrence floor.

Walodorf Astoria Jerusalem

The Palm House dates back to the end of the 19th century and features luxurious rooms with spectacular painted ceilings. The East House was built in 1870 by Pasha Rabah Effendi El Husseini and boasted beautiful arched ceilings and tiled floors. Deluxe penthouse suites with luxurious spa bathrooms are in this building. The Cow Byre has charming guest rooms with original roof beams and old stonework, constructed originally by early American Colonists as an agricultural building.

All rooms and suites are luxurious and spacious with air-conditioning, en-suite bathrooms with standalone or sunken baths, and designer amenities. Some rooms and suites have spacious terraces overlooking the city. Modern amenities include flat-screen satellite televisions, coffeemakers, minifridges, and wireless Internet.

American Colony Hotel: Dining

The American Colony features some of the best restaurants and bars in Jerusalem and is renowned for being the place to go for exceptional cuisine and impeccable service.

Located in the Main House, the Arabesque is the hotel’s main dining room with a warm and elegant setting. The restaurant serves a varied menu of Middle Eastern gourmet cuisine accompanied by an excellent range of international and local wines from boutique wineries in the area.

The celebrated Courtyard Restaurant lies at the heart of the American Colony Hotel and has hosted many famous guests. Shaded by tall mulberry trees throughout the summer and cooled by a central fountain, this leafy outdoor restaurant is a laid-back and relaxed spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Val’s Brasserie is a casual café-style restaurant next to the Cellar Bar overlooking the pool that serves lunch and dinner during the winter months. You can also enjoy a classic British High Tea here daily and tuck it into various sandwiches, scones with strawberry jam and fresh strawberries, or English cake.

Also, the Terrace Café is a peaceful outdoor café next to the hotel shops that serve light fare and drinks. It’s a great place to watch the world go by over a cappuccino.

The American Colony has two intimate bars – the Cellar Bar, which has ancient pink stone floors and is a popular spot for journalists to gather, and the outdoor Summer Bar, a beautiful garden bar with a full range of drinks from whiskey to wine.

American Colony Hotel: Wellness

The hotel’s deluxe Wellness Center is a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding city. A designer pool made of Jerusalem stone, lined with Italian glass tiles, and landscaped with cascading water features is the perfect place to relax on a hot summer’s day.

Work out and keep fit in the fully equipped Technogym fitness room or unwind in the Swedish sauna. Pamper yourself at the American Colony Massage Villa or treat yourself to a beauty treatment at Amal’s Beauty Lounge.

In addition, other facilities at the American Colony Hotel include concierge services, complimentary WiFi throughout the hotel, daily laundry, pressing and dry-cleaning services, and an electric car charging station.
