Pelter Winery

Golan Heights Wine Country

So Pelter Winery is an Israeli boutique winery. This top winery was founded in 2001 by Tal Pelter, who studied in Australia, to which his brother Nir is a member. Now first the winerey was established in the center of Israel. But then in 2005 it moved to Kibbutz Ein Zivan in the Golan Heights. In the 2002 vintage, 4,000 bottles were marketed. Then the 2009 vintage produced alredy about 80,000 bottles. Impressive!

The winery produces two series of wines: T-Selection and Pelter. Since 2008, the “T” flagship series has been added. In addition, the winery produces kosher wines under the Matar Winery brand. So as someone that tends to tour the region quite often; I got the chance to visit lots of different wineries in the region and all over Israel. And I think money for value in this winery is excellent.

Wine production at one of the highest points in Israel, at an altitude of over 1,000 meters above sea level, has many advantages! First of all the volcanic tuff soil and long and cold winter is already significant advantage. In addition, there is a cool and dry summer; with a large range of day-to-night temperatures and strong radiation from the sun.

Pelter Winery and the Reason How They Make Fabulous Wine!

Now all these climatic conditions constitute an ideal environment for the long and slow ripening of the fruit and provide a variety of flavors and high fruit quality. In fact, the grapes are hand-harvested from vineyards in the northern Golan Heights; the Upper Galilee; and the Jerusalem mountains. So the cultivation from various regions allows a celebration of flavors from the same type of grapes. In short, go check out and make a mandatory stop if you’re planning to tour the Golan anytime soon! Trust me Pelter Winery is worth the stop.
