Saint John the Baptist Church

Holy Land Revelaed

The Saint John the Baptist Church is located in Old Town Acre in Galilee region, one of the most beautiful regions in the Holy Land. But it would be best if you did not confuse it with the Franciscan ″Terra Sancta Church″ in the same city. It is very close to the coast, near the lighthouse. You can see it from a distance when you’re driving into Acre.

Moreover, the present church was built by the Franciscans of the Holy Land Custody in 1737 at the site of a former church dedicated to St. Andrew. It works as a parish church for the Catholic community of Latin or Roman rite. It was renovated in 1947.

From Jaffa to Acre Day Tour

Saint John the Baptist Church Opening hours:

So sadly, the church is not open most of the time, and there is very little time for visiting the church. But if you still want to visit and perhaps pray there, you can! Just make sure to come between the hours of 10:30 – 12:30 AM. Visits to the Church may be scheduled in advance by calling Father Caorico, who runs the church at (00)972-4-9910368.

In other words, there are sites in Old Acre you should see first if you’re visiting Acre. But if you have some extra time, why not? So what else can you see in Acre apart from Saint John the Baptist Church? Well, there are so many things, to be honest. Go to my Acre Ultimate Guide for more exciting spots when touring Acre.
